Lawrence School believes that individual success in school and in
life is closely linked to the ability to receive and process information in a way which seems instinctive and
intuitive.
We know that academic success without a positive social context does not provide the basis for self worth. Students
who feel able to succeed will engage in the educational process and engage with others in social activity.
Consequently, we have developed programming which is designed to assure that our students are offered a range of
laboratory tested teaching methodologies in the classroom and social opportunities which will prepare them to be
active participants in our society.
Building on a multi-sensory platform, with organizational strategies embedded in all subject areas, we integrate
the most appropriate research-tested methodologies to meet the academic needs of all of our students. We also
provide social activities, community service and experience-expanding opportunities appropriate to our students
at all ages.
The basis of all interaction at Lawrence is mutual respect and caring. No situation warrants disrespectful or
unkind treatment, and Lawrence School will not tolerate this behavior. As a result, Lawrence is a safe and positive
environment for students, staff, parents and visitors.
Our students come from many backgrounds, but generally they have felt unsuccessful and unrecognized in other
educational settings. Many of our students have diagnosed learning disabilities, attention deficits, organizational
problems or other information processing differences which have made it difficult to achieve success in other
settings. All our students have the ability to be successful academically when given the opportunity to learn in
their own way at their own pace. |
