Summer Programs

Does your child need a jump-start for the next grade?  Lawrence School offers Summer Programs to students in grades 1-12 who need help achieving academic excellence.

Lower School - Summer School

June 15 - July 10

8 am - 12 noon, Monday - Friday

For students entering grades 1-6

Program Fee: $850

A unique blend of academics, confidence building and fun is offered through Lawrence School's Summer School program. Students do not need to be enrolled in Lawrence School during the school year to take advantage of the Summer School Program.


Summer School is a four-week, half-day (8:00 a.m. - 12 noon) academic program for students entering grades 1-6. An innovative curriculum enhances the learning style of bright students with learning differences and attention deficits. Classes are non-graded and ability-grouped with an average 6:1 student/teacher ratio. Students receive consistent remediation in reading, written expression, language arts and mathematics.

Summer School teachers are all state-certified educators with specialized Lawrence School training.

Upper School -Summer Skills Workshops

June 15 - July 3

8:30 am - 11:30 am, Monday - Friday

For students entering grades 7-12

Program Fee: $750 per course

Math Essentials (MS)
This course is designed for the student who needs continued support in math facts, calculations, and fluency. Students will use technology and explore the concepts of time management, money management, and consumer math. Students will be given the opportunity to apply these concepts in an experiential manner so that they understand the daily application of these skills.


Algebra I Fundamentals (HS)
This course is designed for students who are preparing to take Algebra I and would benefit from the opportunity to develop confidence when solving Algebraic equations. Some topics that will be covered include: Whole numbers, decimals, fractions, integers, and basic geometric concepts.


Organization, Note-taking, and Study Skills Strategies (MS and HS sections)
This course is designed for students who are working on refining their executive function skills. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about various strategies and how they can best be implemented; ultimately choosing the strategy that is most appropriate for them. Integrating technology and learning assistive technologies will be major components of several strategies. All skills will be presented within the context of various content areas so the applied practice will have more meaning for the students.

Reading, Writing, & Assistive Technology (MS and HS sections)

This course is designed for students who need support with reading fluency, reading comprehension, pre-writing strategies, and written expression. Students will have the opportunity to become proficient in the use of assistive technologies such as Read and Write Gold and Inspiration. All strategies are intended to promote the development of more independent learning.

Relationships – The Social Side of School (MS only)
This program is designed for students who would benefit from guidance and skill building in the social aspects of school.  Learning how to develop positive social relationships, identifying important social cues and responding effectively in challenging social situations will all be areas of focus in this workshop.

Literature Analysis (MS and HS sections)
This course is designed for students who need support with reading comprehension and analyzing literature. Students will learn strategies around the essential question: “How to read a novel?” Students will explore the literary elements of plot, conflict, rising/falling action, character development, point of view, tone, and figurative language. Technology integration and assistive technologies will be used to support text analysis.

College Essay Writing (HS seniors)
This course is designed for college bound students about to enter their senior year of high school. The college admissions essay is a crucial piece to the college application. It is an opportunity to allow you to stand out on paper from other applicants. Sometimes it is difficult to convey the unique things that make you, “you”. Students will review sample essays & guidelines for the college admissions essays, perform in-class brainstorming & writing, and receive one-on-one feedback. Students will conclude the college essay workshop with a minimum of two personal statements.

MS = Middle School

HS = High School

Summer School options for students entering grades 7-12 are offered to all eligible students. Students do not need to be enrolled in Lawrence School during the school year to take advantage of the Summer School Program.
