School Cancellation Information -  Head Notes

Upper School Facility Access

Upper School visitors are asked to use the Main Entrance at all times (r-hand side doors). During after-school activities, these doors will stay open until 6 pm. Students who remain in the building after 6 pm will be asked to wait for rides in the vestibule area (heated and lit) while the doors between the vestibule and the school are locked. We urge parents to pick up students on time in order to avoid this necessity.

During athletic events, parents and visitors should enter the building only through the front doors. All doors will be closed and locked 30 minutes after the conclusion of any game.

Head Notes
Winter has arrived with a vengeance. In the past, our philosophy has been to keep school open unless the major highways are icy or dangerous.

This year we have experienced significant changes in the variety of transportation options our families are using to get children to school. With the bitter cold predicted for next week, it is possible that we will close school if the wind chills are significantly below zero. We cannot risk the health of students who are waiting outside for rides or of students who are driving and whose cars might become disabled stranding them in a dangerous situation.

In the case of a possible school cancellation, TV channels 3, 8, 19, 23 and 43 will now be running Lawrence School – Lower under Cuyahoga County and Lawrence School – Upper under Summit County. (We’re working with channel 5 to get our information updated with them as well.)

Stay tuned to the local TV and radio stations, but remember that your OFFICIAL notification of school closings will come from your child’s homeroom or advisory teacher.
