Head Notes

 |
This has been an exciting week in the life of Lawrence, especially for students, staff and families in the Upper School. Monday morning, we assembled in our new gymnasium to commemorate the first day in our new building. After greetings from our Board of Trustees, from Mrs. Walker, our Student Council and National Honor Society leadership and from me, students and Trustees joined to cut the ribbons admitting our students to their classroom areas.
Although we had been concerned about getting the furniture delivered and installed on time, everything was spick and span and ready for our first day. What didn’t show was the fact that many staff members donated most of their holiday to make the transition smooth and efficient. My thanks to each of them! We will still add some furnishings and equipment over the next few weeks and work to complete the integration of the new technology at the Upper School with the existing systems at the Lower School, but we are up and running with our academic programming.
After years of crowded conditions, my first impression is how quiet the building seems during the day. The same can be said about the Lower School where there is finally room to accommodate new ideas and programs. Next week, the Lower School staff will journey to the Upper School to become acquainted with the facilities and the many ways in which this new building can also support programming at the Lower School.
Lower, Middle, Upper School students, staff and families… we are all winners this week!
