Head Notes: Guest Columnist

I am very pleased to have the opportunity to discuss some of the changes that have occurred, or are in the process of occurring, since the Upper School has left our Broadview Heights building.

In just a few short weeks, the Lower School staff managed to create a second science lab/project room. Students have already made good use of the additional space to conduct larger lab experiments. We have also expanded our space to house our reading lab program. This has enabled us to provide separate rooms for each of our three reading groups, and add a computer (totaling three) for Earobics.

In addition to our existing computer lab, we now have access to a second lab which houses twenty additional computers. We are preparing a third wireless tabletop computer lab, which will be available to all classes as well.

Student Council has met for the first time and exciting plans are well underway. During activity time, starting Monday, 1/22, we will be offering clubs for all students to attend once a week. These activities will include yoga, Tae Bo, chess, acting, gymnastics and many others.

Finally, we are delighted to once again be offering the after school Intramural program. Beginning February 28th, Mr. Redd will be offering a six week basketball camp. If you are interested, look for a flyer which will be coming home soon.

I hope you are as excited with these new initiatives as we are. There are more enhancements still in the planning stage for Lower School. Stay tuned!
