Lou and Mimi
Mimi Mayer and Lou Salza: current and future heads of Lawrence!
Thanks to those of you who enjoyed coffee and conversation with Lou Salza this week. Lou truly enjoyed meeting all of our parents.

Lou also had the opportunity to spend plenty of time with staff, whose first order of business was to teach him the "O-H-I-O" shout from "Hang on Sloopy"! We were all thrilled to host him here at Lawrence for three days this week, and look forward to officially welcoming him as our new head in August!
Students of the Month
Students of the Month: David, Brandon and Patrick
Congratulations to our Upper School students of the month: Patrick K. for grades 7-8, Brandon F. for grades 9-10, and David R. for grades 11-12. Great job, guys!

On Monday, 4/16, our Lower School students will be treated to a musical performance by a traveling youth group. Thank you to parent Mrs. Hecker for arranging this.
Private Lives Performnace 2
Carson B. and Laura H. in Private Lives
Good luck to the Drama Club on their performance of Private Lives this weekend!  Tonight's performance is nearly sold-out, and tickets are selling well for Saturday. Shows start at 8 pm in the Upper School Theatre.

As Lower School students leave for Spring Break, review packets will be sent home. Completion is not a requirement, but will help students review and reinforce concepts over break.

Have a Happy Spring Break!

Early Dismissal - Upper School

Please note that a final Early Dismissal date for Upper School has been added to our calendar. Students in grades 7-12 will dismiss at noon on Friday, May 4 due to rewiring and other work that will be going on inside of the building. Teachers will take advantage of another staff training day during this time. Thank you for your cooperation!

Earth Day - Lower School

Lower School students will be celebrating Earth Day on Friday, 4/27 at the Upper School campus. More details to follow soon!

"Team Lawrence" update

Staff, students, family and friends on "Team Lawrence" are gearing up for the Cleveland Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k on May 20. We are asking for pledges to help raise money to start a cross country team at the Upper School, and enhance activities at the Lower School. Log on to www.active.com/donate/lawrenceschool to make a donation. Thanks for your support!

After-School Running Club - Upper School

"Team Lawrence" is sponsoring an after-school running club. We will meet after school on April 18, April 25, May 2, May 9 and May 16. This is great practice for any Upper School students interested in joining cross country. Contact Adam Havel (x2406) or Courtney Baker (x3106) for details.

Lower School Safety Drills

Thank you for your support of the drills our students experienced this week. Safety is always a priority and the students did a wonderful job. Drills this week were to fine tune our procedures and will be practiced annually.

CCIS Middle School Social

There is a CCIS middle school social on Friday, 4/20 from 4:30-7 pm at Lawrence Upper School. This is a social with other middle school students from the Cleveland Council of Independent Schools.   The theme is "luau."  Tickets are $5 each - students may purchase during lunchtime the week of the social.

11th-12th Grade Class Trips

Parents of students attending the 11th & 12th grade trip to Canada will soon receive a letter indicating the final amount due. The due date is Tuesday, 4/3. Thank you for your patience - it has allowed us more time to accommodate our newest enrollees.

Boys' Baseball

This spring, come out and support our Boys' Baseball team! While we do not have a home field yet, all games are played at Clark Field in Tremont (Cleveland). See the online calendar at www.lawrenceschool.org for dates and times.

"First Bell" Auction Update

Please RSVP for “The First Bell,” Lawrence’s Benefit Auction on May 5th. Remember to also turn in your 50/50 raffle tickets. The winner need not be present at the event to win. Mark your calendars for the next Committee meeting on Wednesday, 4/18 at 1 pm at the Lower School. All silent auction items are due at that time. Thank you!

Lower School Book Fair - Recap

Thank you again for supporting our Lower School Book Fair. We raised over $1000 in cash and books! Special thanks to those who purchased items on the library wish list. A book raffle takes place today, with one lucky winner from each homeroom.

CCIS College Fair

The Cleveland Council of Independent Schools is hosting a College Fair on Monday, 4/16, from 6:30-9 pm at Hawken School in Gates Mills. Over 100 colleges will be represented, as well as speakers on topics such as financial aid, options for students with learning differences, and NCAA regulations.

Enjoy Your Spring Break!

Due to the volume of news this week, the "Head Notes" column went on spring break early, but will return on April 20. Have a wonderful break, and we will look forward to seeing you again on April 16!
