Diversity Awareness

In celebration of the November theme of "Reach Across the World," Lower School students are participating in activities designed to help them learn more about other cultures, feel proud of their own culture, and understand diversity and how it relates to their own lives. Activities include reading, writing and discussion, and will culminate in the annual International Banquet on Friday, 11/17.

Open House Recap

Lower and Upper Schools hosted Open House events for prospective students this week. Both events drew record numbers of guests, and we were pleased to have the opportunity to share our school, students, and vision with new faces and families.

Welcome, Marburn Academy

Lawrence welcomes the staff from Marburn Academy in Columbus as they visit on Friday, 11/10. They will be meeting with Lawrence staff and observing classrooms. We are excited to share our knowledge with them, and look forward to learning from their experiences as well.

Students of the Month

Congratulations to our Upper School Students of the Month for October: Rebecca C (grades 7-8), Rachael L. (grades 9-10) and Monica M. (grades 11-12). Each of these students works hard, demonstrates leadership, and truly represent what Lawrence is all about. Congratulations, girls!
Head Notes
Next Friday, November 17, the Lower School will hold its annual International Banquet.  This event has become an important tradition and it allows both the school and each family to focus on the importance of valuing the history and traditions which make each of us unique.

Students will be asked to provide a dish which represents their ethnic or national heritage.  If your child is in Lower School, I hope you will take this opportunity to discuss with them what food they would like to share and the ways in which your family heritage molds not only the foods you eat but other social and family traditions which are important to you.

For this banquet to be a success, we need students to feel proud of their contribution and also curious and interested in learning about and tasting the contributions of their peers.  It is the diversity of choices, and the richness they offer, that make this banquet a real feast every year.  Your thoughtful contribution will, even from the confines of Lawrence School, truly help us "reach around the world".
