Ryan Tucker
Ryan Tucker reads to students
Many thanks to Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Ryan Tucker, who visited Lower School students on Tuesday, 10/17 to talk about the importance of reading. Students enjoyed asking Mr. Tucker many, many questions, such as, "How much do you weigh?" and "Who is your best friend on the Browns?" One student even said, "Tell Charlie Frye I said hello!"

If students would like to hear more Browns players read their favorite books, please log on to www.clevelandbrowns.com and follow the 'Community' link. Look for the "Read with the Browns" section half way down the page. Students can hear books read by players like Andre Davis and Charlie Frye!
History reenactment

On Fri. 10/6, Mr. Deal's U.S. History classes performed historical reenactments of the Spanish exploration and colonization of Central and South America. Nice acting, students!

VIP Auction Committee - Thank You!

Many thanks to the parents who came to our first Auction Planning Meeting this Tuesday, 10/17. If you were not able to make the meeting but would like to participate, please call Rebecca Hamilton at x3107.

Upper School Class Fundraisers

This year, the Upper School has chosen an individual fundraiser for each grade. Class proceeds will enable Lawrence to start an "account" for each grade that will then follow them throughout their years at Lawrence. This money will be used to offset costs for school activities such as trips, dances, parties, etc.

Trick or Treat for UNICEF

As a service project, Spanish Club will be participating in Trick or Treat for UNICEF. This annual Halloween campaign empowers American kids to make a difference in the lives of their peers across the world. If you would like to Trick or Treat for UNICEF in your own neighborhood, contact Ms. Amanda Hedrick at x2407 for more information.
Head Notes
We were recently delighted to welcome Lower School grandparents as they joined their grandchildren for the beginning of the school day. Our students were so proud to share their original poems and introduce some of the other most important people in their lives - friends and teachers - to their grandparents.  Over 110 grandparents joined us, and we look forward to meeting even more of you next year.

Lower School students have just issued another group of invitations - this time to our own Board of Trustees - to be their guests for a morning of fun and instruction next Tuesday.  We will also look forward to welcoming the Board to the Upper School during the second semester.

We love to open our doors to guests, and during any week we welcome college students who are training to be teachers, doctors who are training to be pediatricians and psychologists, visitors who are anxious to learn more about out techniques, and guests who are invited to enhance classroom lessons with their expertise. What I hear from ALL our visitors is that they can sense the warmth, enthusiasm and caring at Lawrence. Thank you for the part you all play in making these visits memorable.
