Cool weather dress code starts Monday

Dress code changes start next week

Starting Monday, Oct. 2, the cool weather dress code goes into effect. Students and staff will no longer be permitted to wear capris or shorts, and socks or hosiery must be worn at all times. If you have any questions contact Pat Feith (x1124) for Lower School or Tracy Pedaline (x2124) for Upper School.

Upper School construction update

At the new Upper School campus, ceramic tile floors are currently being installed. Installation of the gymnasium flooring - featuring an inlaid Lawrence Lion - starts next week.

Lower School Field Trip

Lower School students will travel to the Holden Arboretum on Fri. 10/6. Students need to bring lunch in a paper bag (no lunch boxes or reusable containers). Students are not required to wear dress code as they will go on a Nature Walk. Please dress appropriate to the weather.

8th Grade Fundraiser

8th grade students will be selling Root candles from October 2-16 as part of their class trip fundraiser.  If you do not have an 8th grade child but are interested in purchasing candles, call Tracy Pedaline (x2124).

Congratulations, Mrs. Kaas!

Mrs. Allison Kaas and her husband Brian welcomed a second son, Spencer Leroy Kaas, to the family last week.  Mom and baby are home and doing fine.  Ms. Patti Sternad will be covering for Mrs. Kaas.  She is a familiar face to the students, which will make for a smooth transition and continued academic support.

Lawrence spirit-wear update

Information on the new Upper School spirit-wear sale can be found online at www.lawrencevip.org. This year's clothing features the new Lawrence lion, and a choice between embroidered or screen-printed logos. All orders must be submitted by Oct. 11. Sweatshirts from last year are also on sale now through the website.  Lower School is sending home a form for their own spirit-wear today. If you did not receive a form for Lower School, contact Pat Feith (x1124).

The Upper School event will be held at the new Sagamore Hills campus! RSVP to the Admission office at 440-526-0717.
Head Notes
The fourth core area that the management team and I have identified as critical to the continued health of Lawrence School is building and strengthening awareness and relationships within the community. With increased capacity to serve, we want to assure that families who need our school know about it. To that end, we are working with organizations who share our goals.  We are thrilled to provide workshops which allow us to share some of the transferable techniques we have refined. Although we have the benefit of small classes at Lawrence, many of our teaching practices can also improve the success of students at any school, in any setting.

We also want the community to see how bright and productive our students can be, just as we all experience every day.  I hope you have seen Lawrence featured in inserts in Cleveland magazine, Cleveland/Akron Family magazine, Currents and others.  Also, you will soon receive an invitation to a very special evening celebrating the creativity of students with learning disabilities, in conjunction with the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Barcelona Exhibit at the Cleveland Art Museum. This will provide a wonderful opportunity for us all to share the magic of Lawrence with a wider audience.

Although this is a very busy year at Lawrence, we are happy to tell our story to others and hope that you will tell YOUR Lawrence story, too.
