New Literacy Program Announced for Emerging Readers

Alphabet Adventures Camp at Lawrence School is our brand new, emergent literacy program designed for preschool and kindergarten students.

The program will be offered twice a week in the fall of 2017 and feature small group (6-8 students) and individualized instruction, multisensory and evidence-based strategies, and a structured literacy approach to help children improve alphabet knowledge, pre-reading skills, and phonemic awareness.

Other features include:

  • Teachers trained in Orton-Gillingham methodology and knowledgeable about structured literacy and multisensory approaches.
  • Visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile approaches that support language-based learning differences and mild articulation challenges.
  • Morning and afternoon sessions from September 2017 to May 2018.

Research has shown that early language and phonological skills are strong predictors of later reading ability. Alphabet Adventures Camp will provide young children the foundation necessary for future reading success and inspire an interest in books and love for reading.
