At a Loss for Words: Understanding the Special Education Guidelines in Your School and Communicating Your Child's Needs Effectively REGISTER ONLINE HERE
Do you suspect your child is in need of special education services but are not sure where to start? What is the difference between an MFE and an IEP? How do you request an evaluation and what type of evaluation does your child need? How do you know what you can realistically expect, and how do you get what you want for your child?
Navigating the special education process can be challenging and confusing. Understanding the process and effectively communicating with teachers and administrators on your child’s behalf requires knowledge, patience and perseverance.
Please join us for a discussion on the meaning of important educational terms and categories, the accurate interpretation of standardized test results, and the strategies parents can use effectively when attempting to communicate the need for special education services with a school district. Panelists include Dr. Ethan Schafer Clinical Psychologist; and Dr. Denise Brown-Triolo, Special Services Coordinator.
