Dr. Haynes To Speak At Lawrence on April 19

Charles Haynes, EdD, CCC-SLP, who helped to found the nation's first intervention program for students with dyslexia and expressive language disorders, will present "Home Support for Children's Language Development: Book Reading and Storytelling" at Lawrence Lower School on Thursday, April 19, from 9-10:30 a.m.

Dr. Haynes will provide practical strategies that help parents support language development in their Preschool and Early Elementary aged children. Parent-friendly techniques for expanding and elaborating children's language will be shared. Parents will learn powerful, easy-to-implement methods for supporting children's language development during common parent-child routines such as dressing, hygiene, chores, story book reading, and recounting events.

Copies of Dr. Haynes' book From Talking to Writing: Strategies for Supporting Narrative and Expository Writing - 2nd Edition will be available for purchase at the presentation for $40 via check payable to Lawrence School.

This community education event is free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of the Bicknell Fund.
