Mrs. Mattes Named "Counselor of the Year" by Notre Dame College

Director of College and Career Planning Mrs. Jennifer Mattes has been named "Counselor of the Year" by Notre Dame College for her outstanding commitment on behalf of Lawrence students. The well-deserved honor came as a surprise to Mrs. Mattes at Notre Dame's annual Counselor Appreciation event on Monday, Nov. 21.

The College and Career Planning Center helps prepare each student for the transition from Lawrence School to post-secondary life. This includes career guidance, financial aid and scholarship assistance, college planning, college application guidance, standardized testing, vocational guidance, essay writing tips, study skill advice, test taking preparation and more.

Associate Director of College and Career Planning Mrs. Lindsey Riley helped coordinate the surprise recognition with Notre Dame College. Mrs. Riley gathered quotes from Lawrence School faculty, staff and students expressing their appreciation of Mrs. Mattes. The kind words were shared at the event and added to Mrs. Mattes' special moment.

Vice President for Traditional Undergraduate Enrollment and Student Success at Notre Dame College Beth Ford presented the award to Mrs. Mattes and recognized her for consistent collaboration with Notre Dame staff to support students in finding an environment for post-secondary success.

"The success of our Lawrence students in their post-secondary placements is a team effort!" Mrs. Mattes said. Lawrence School is honored to have a recognized guidance counselor on our team. Thank you for all you do, Mrs. Mattes!
