Lions Leap

Spend your summer at Lawrence School! We're Northeast Ohio's only academic program for students with dyslexia and other learning differences.

Lawrence School’s Orton-Gillingham based instructional approach looks a lot like play. Peek into our classrooms and you’ll see students writing in shaving cream, sculpting sight words with modeling clay, bouncing balls as they skip count, and, most importantly, smiling and laughing! But don’t be fooled by all the fun—these engaging multisensory activities lead to serious gains in literacy and mathematics. This summer, we invite your child to leap ahead with Lions Leap!

  • Our daily class schedule consists of 40-minute lessons in phonics, reading fluency, writing, and mathematics—with playground time in between.
  • All concepts are introduced through visual, tactile, auditory, and kinesthetic activities, which are proven to help students with learning differences make
  • connections and retain information.
  • Class sizes are small; groupings of only 8-10 learners make way for plenty of individualized attention from our knowledgeable staff.
  • Organization is explicitly taught and practiced, further developing the executive function skills essential for success in school and beyond.

Lions Leap is not only an intensive dose of specialized instruction—it’s a powerful experience that shows kids who learn differently they CAN succeed academically. In just four weeks, Leapers build new skills, increase self-confidence, gain motivation, make new friends, and find out how fun learning can be!

“We enrolled in hopes of avoiding the summer slide, but I was blown away when I saw how much my daughter’s reading improved. Lions Leap didn’t just keep her from falling behind—it propelled her forward.”

Applications for Summer 2023 are now closed.

To register for Lions Leap, the following steps are required:

Apply for Admission
Request a summer application, which takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Submit Testing Results
If your child has an IEP from your public school or has undergone a private learning evaluation, we ask that you email a copy of the educational report and test results to admissions@lawrenceschool.org. Formal testing is not a requirement for summer program enrollment, but it helps us better understand your child's learning needs.

Officially Register
We'll review your application and testing to determine how Lawrence's instructional approach can benefit your learner. Within ten business days, you’ll receive notification regarding enrollment and if applicable, a link to officially register.

NOTE: Students in our summer program are asked to attend an in-person skill assessment. We conduct these short academic evaluations in late spring and use the data to group learners by instructional level.

Lions Leap has limited capacity, so we encourage you to start the application process right away! If you have questions, please contact admissions@lawrenceschool.org
