Upper School Counselor

Full-Time, 10-Month Employee, Sagamore Hills Campus

Make a difference every day! Lawrence School seeks a dedicated and compassionate school counselor to serve students in grades 7-12.

This position provides the opportunity to positively impact the lives of middle and high school students and support their social, emotional, and academic growth.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Observe students in classrooms and provide feedback to teachers and students about methods that may assist the students in improving their classroom performance
  • Co-facilitate Lions Skills course in the middle school with a primary focus on coping skills and social skills development
  • Research and implement evidence-based prevention programming for the student body based on the school community's needs as determined by the school's administration
  • Attend weekly Student Support Team meetings and update students' confidential Sharepoint to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain confidentiality of information learned about students and share appropriate information with school staff as needed
  • Communicate with staff, parents, and community support providers about the needs of students clearly and consistently
  • Provide time-limited counseling support to students, while collaborating with parents to secure longer-term community-based services
  • Attend important school events, including staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, orientation, First Bell, commencement, Convocation, etc.
  • Responsible for administering transition activities to support IEP development and the College and Career Planning Center

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling required; Ohio Pupil Services Licensure in School Counseling is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a School Counselor required; Significant experience managing student social and psychological concerns is also required.
  • Must possess significant knowledge of various methods and programs to achieve student psychological wellness
  • Experience leading transition activities and using the results to identify student needs
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail/accuracy, timely implementation, and quality performance

SCHEDULE:

This is a 10-month position that follows the academic calendar with occasional evening and weekend hours.

  • Monday: 8:15 - 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday-Friday: 8:15 - 3:45 p..m.
