Earlier this month, Lawrence Lower School welcomed two Kenston High School seniors, Morgan and Shauna, to campus as part of their Problem-Based Learning (PBL) project. They met with Lawrence Head of School Douglas Hamilton and observed a unique, small-group learning environment, offering a different perspective from their public school experience.
They were excited to share their observations on the philosophy and atmosphere of the Lawrence classroom:
“I really love the motto of how everyone doesn't think the same... I also really like how classes are grouped by ability instead of age or grade level. Students with similar thinking styles work together, and I think that’s so cool.” – Shauna
"It doesn't matter if you have a learning difference or not. So many students would benefit from just being in a small classroom and having that personalized attention." – Morgan“
The inclusivity here is wonderful, and I'm going to add in their confidence. Everyone had confidence to raise their hand... they worked really well together. It really pushes the social skills, too." – Shauna
Thank you, Morgan and Shauna, for visiting and sharing your valuable perspective!
