The first-ever Lawrence Cardboard Boat Regatta was a splashing success!

On April 24, students from Mr. Thompson’s physics class put Archimedes' Principle to the ultimate test at the Macedonia Rec Center. After three weeks of calculating buoyant force and center of mass, it was finally time to see if their boats—made of only cardboard, duct tape, and polyurethane—would actually float.

Out of the six boats that hit the water, three made it to the end of the pool and back! A huge congrats to Mr. Thompson, as well as our pioneer shipbuilders, for starting a great new Lawrence tradition.
